The team
here are always particularly excited for the 17th March to celebrate St.
Patrick’s Day due to Killashee’s strong ties to St. Patrick. Killashee derives
it’s name from St. Auxillius who is said to be the nephew of St. Patrick. It is
widely debated in Co. Kildare whether it was St. Patrick himself or his nephew
St. Auxillius who founded the church at Killashee. Sadly the church closed in
1965, and all that remains are the ruins and the Holy Well which is dedicated to
St. Patrick. Ask at our reception for a map of our grounds and take a true
exploration into Ireland’s history*.
